
Leona Louise Lewis (born 3 April 1985) is a British artist, singer also known as actress, and activist. She was born and raised in the London Borough Of Islington she was educated at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, Croydon. Lewis became famous when she was chosen to be the third season on The X Factor 2006 and won a contract worth PS1,000,000 from Syco music. The winner's single that was a cover of the song of Kelly Clarkson "A Moment Like This," had 50,000 downloads within 30 minutes , and reached number 1 for the duration of four weeks. Clive Davis, Lewis's American record label J Records signed Lewis a five-album contract in February of 2007. Lewis's success continued with the launch of her first record, Spirit (2007), which was certified platinum at 10x in the UK and was subsequently the fourth top-selling album in the decade and among the top-selling albums of UK chart history. It is reported by the Official Charts Company claims that Spirit was the best-selling 21st century debut album for a female artist. The top UK single, Bleeding Love, remained at No. 1 . for seven weeks, and was the top-selling single of 2007 according to the Official Charts Company. The song was among the best-selling in 2008, as well. Lewis was awarded an award for her work, the Billboard Award for Best New Artist. In 2009, she released her sophomore studio album, Echo and also recorded the song that served as the soundtrack, "I See You" in the movie Avatar. Lewis' track "Collide", was an collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii and also she released Hurt the EP. It was her first long-form play. Her third studio album, Glassheart (2012), was a departure in direction for Lewis taking on dubstep and electronic music. While on her Glassheart Tour in 2013, she began to record material for her first Christmas album. The album Christmas, With Love was released in the final quarter of 2013. Its lead single One More Sleep peaked at number 3 across the UK. Lewis who is who is a British female solo artist, was the first female artist to reach the top 5 with eight songs. It was a leap over Olivia Newton John's seven-year record.
